The APP I Want to Be!

May 25, 2010

Read: All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them the ability. ... At this sound, the crowd gathered and was bewildered, because each one heard them speaking in the native language of each. Amazed and astonished, they asked, "... And how is it that we hear, each of us, in our own native language? ... in our own language we hear them speaking about God's deeds of power." All were amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, "What does this mean?" But others sneered and said, "They are filled with new wine." Acts 2:4-13

Think About: What is going on in that house over there? All the respectable people were heading to the temple to celebrate the harvest, and those crazed people poured out of that house, speaking in many languages and carrying on like a bunch of drunks! At 9:00 in the morning! It's scandalous.

But something was happening. Those who stopped to listen understood. No matter the country, no matter the language, the Spirit-filled message of those joyous disciples was heard. The Spirit was reaching everyone, exactly as they were and where they were. And those who listened were also touched by the Spirit. What does it mean?

How about YOUR house? What is going on in your house? Maybe we don't run out on the street shouting about the joy of God's good news. (Hmmm...Maybe we should!?) But, we are able to share some joy and enthusiasm, about being touched by God, filed with the Spirit, and sent in the world to give our spiritual fruits.

We all have the opportunity to talk about God's deeds of power. Even if not called to preaching, we may be like St. Francis - preach the gospel all day long, use words if necessary.

We certainly have faith that since the spirit has touched us too, our words and deeds will be understood by the person meant to receive them. Although we use our words, they hear in their language.

Share the joy and enthusiasm. We will be amazed and astonished. So will they.

Pray this Prayer: Oh holy and sacred, make in me a joyful and enthusiastic disciple. Show me how to share that joy and enthusiasm. I pray for the spirit to help others understand my zest. And find their passion. Amen.

You are invited and encouraged to share your thoughts, feelings and experiences with the spiritual practices at the Easter Devotional Blog. We are on this journey together and your words may help another along the way.
