Read: He has told you, O mortal, what is good: and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God? Micah 6:8
Think About: And here we are, at the end of the week and the end of the study. Each of us has spent time in thought, prayer and worship; trying to figure out how to be the best "me" I know how to be. Hopefully, we are all stronger "amazing powerful persons".
And now we go forth. Each of us is hopefully more "me" than when we started this journey. The next challenge is to put that New "me-ness" into action, for ourselves, our families and relationships, for our Church, for our community, and to build the Kingdom of God. God does not promise it will be easy; God only promises to be with us, to the ends of the earth.
To keep on course, we need a compass. For me, this verse from Micah is my checklist. Do my actions, my deeds, my thoughts pass this test?
A simple verse and almost impossible guide:
- Love, even the person that wronged me.
- Kindness, even to the person who makes my life and work difficult.
- Do, not to be empty words, but active faith.
- Justice, taking on a challenge, making a difference, being God's instrument of Kingdom building.
- Walk, deliberate and purposeful, not frenetic or aimless, remembering always for everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.
- Humbly, although it is about finding "me", and being "me", it is not about me.
- With God, in active partnership, creating, encouraging, building and sustaining the world we all want.
Seven basic words - and a lifetime mission.
Go on, be on with you! God is waiting for your "me-ness"!
Pray this Prayer: Oh holy and sacred, take my "me" and make it be yours, teach me, guide me, lead me, show me the challenge that only I will do....with your help. Amen.
You are invited and encouraged to share your thoughts, feelings and experiences with the spiritual practices at the Devotional Blog. We are on this journey together and your words may help another along the way.
