ArtWorks brings a variety of arts experiences to children living in foster care or debilitating poverty. Artists volunteer their time and talents to conduct art, drama and writing classes that allow the children to explore a variety of art mediums and disciplines. ArtWorks encourages the children to recognize their creative talents as gifts from God while building confidence and self esteem. In addition to classes, the children attend cultural events and tour arts related businesses. Their accomplishments are shared through a variety of art displays and performances throughout the community.
When & Where:
- Art, writing and drama classes meet Friday evenings 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. Each class lasts approximately 1 hour.
- Classes are held September through April at Great Oaks Village 1718 E. Michigan Street near downtown Orlando.
- Special arts activities at various other locations are scheduled during summer and holidays.
Who ArtWorks needs the following volunteers:
- Artists, writers and actors to teach classes.
- Anyone with an interest in the arts and helping children to assist with classes.
