Special Events for Spiritual Formation

Special Events for Spiritual Formation are planned from time to time. These events are typically a few hours to a full day in length and give short and spiritually-packed growth.

Beth Moore Deeper Still Retreat – Amway Arena – September 18 & 19th
Cost $75 for both days. Open seating. Car Pooling will be available. United Methodist Women will be coordinating the event. There are no group discounts so, please purchase your tickets on-line (www.lifeway.com, click on events, click on Deeper Still). Then sign up on the UMW page so we so we can car pool and sit together in what promises to be a FUNTASTIC event!

A Day Apart
St. Luke’s United Methodist Women will be joining the women of First United Methodist for a morning of reflection on God’s guidance, inspiration, experience of different prayers forms and Holy Communion. Our very own Rev. LeeAnn Inman will be leading this event on Saturday, October 17, from 8:30 am- noon at First UMC and childcare will be available. Sign-up online to attend no later than Saturday, October 10 on the UMW page.

Different Faiths, Common Roots: A Muslim Christian Dialogue
St. Luke’s has been invited to share in the spiritual discipline of fasting during Ramadan with our Muslim neighbors and then to attend an Iftar at The Islamic Center of Orlando on Monday, September 14 at 8 pm. The Iftar is the breaking of the fast that starts by eating a date and is followed by Sunset Prayer and Breaking of Bread (feast). To prepare for this experience you are invited to attend "Iftar 101" on Sunday September 13, 2009 at 2:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. The Iftar and Prayer Service will be held at 11543 Ruby Lake Road less than 10 minutes from St. Luke’s on Monday evening.

Global Peace Film Festival
For the third year in a row, an interfaith dialogue will be held at end of the Global Peace Film Festival that is happening throughout Central Florida September 22-27. The film “With One Voice” will be shown in conjunction with an interfaith discussion on Sunday, September 27 starting at 1 p.m. at the Bush Auditorium at Rollins College. Tickets can be purchased at www.peacefilmfest.org for this event and any other film shown throughout the festival.
