Kingdom Camp Sessions
Please note that sessions will be repeating the same activities each week. We highly recommend that children do not repeat the same sessions.
Each session has a limited number of spaces and some sessions have age restrictions. This information will be available on the Summer Camps page at the week before registration begins.
ASTRO BISTRO - CULINARY
Culinary/Mission team will feature stories of children who have tested the limits, and gone to the extreme, in helping their community and the world. They will be learning how to cook, in addition to making a positive difference in the world around them. All the foods prepared during the week will benefit one of the ministries that St. Luke’s is connected with. For example: muffins for the Coalition for the Homeless, dinner for our Interfaith Hospitality, and many more. This session will be offered for children entering 4th through 6th in the fall of 2010.
COSMIC KEYS
Cosmic Keys is offered through our School of the Arts. Beginning keyboard instruction in a lab setting using digital pianos. Cosmic Keys offers children an opportunity to discover the joy of praising God through music. A keyboard at home for practicing recommended but not required. Sessions will be offered for children entering 1st through 3rd grade and those entering 4th through 6th grade in the fall of 2010. Openings available for both weeks.
DISCOVERY DRAMA
The Discovery Drama team will become Bible Storytellers highlighting the five Bible stories that illustrate each day’s theme. They will be performing during our daily Morning Gathering for campers. Sessions will be offered for children entering 1st through 3rd grade and those entering 4th through-6th in the fall of 2010. Openings available for both weeks for 4th through 6th grade.
FOUNDATIONS... A BLAST FROM THE PAST
As children journey through Foundations, they will learn that our God is wonderful, our God is incredible, our God is amazing, our God is magnificent, and our God is awesome! This session is for children entering 1st grade through entering 3rd grade. At Foundations children will play table games, learn Bible stories, creative awesome camp crafts and explore God’s creation. This session will be offered for children entering 1st through 3rd grade in the fall of 2010. Openings available for both weeks.
GALACTIC BLAST'S COSMIC CRAFTS
At Galactic Blast's Cosmic Crafts activity center, your cadets will use their imagination and creativity in making crafts that tie into the theme of praising God. We will be using environmentally friendly do-it-yourself ideas. These crafts will also be reminders of each cadet's cosmic adventure long after Kingdom Camp Galactic Blast’s touches down! Sessions will be offered for children entering 1st through 3rd grade and those entering 4th through 6th in the fall of 2010. Openings available for both weeks for 4th through 6th grade.
GALACTIC GYM GAMES
Galactic Gym Games is out of this world! Your cadets will have the opportunity to play basketball, indoor soccer, wacky volleyball, and a host of other gym games that emphasize fun and teamwork. Galactic Blast will take place entirely indoors. Sessions will be offered for children entering 1st through 3rd grade and those entering 4th through 6th grade in the fall of 2010. Openings available for both weeks for 4th through 6th grade.
LITTLE ASTRO BISTRO - CULINARY
Little Astro Bistro - Culinary Bites will learn the very basics of cooking through no-bake recipes. Many of their creations will benefit one of the ministries that St. Luke’s is connected with. This session will be offered for children entering 1st through 3rd grade in the fall of 2010. Full.
MISSIONS... OUT OF THIS WORLD
The Galactic Blast Mission features stories of children who have praised God by helping their community and the others all around the planet Earth. With these stories, inspire the children in our camp and your whole congregation to step out and make a positive difference in the world around them. This session will be offered for children entering 3rd through 6th in the fall of 2010.
ORBITAL OBSERVATORY - SCIENCE
Orbital Observatory science session will have our cadets in awe of daily science activities. Each fun and educational activity ends with a Praise Point that ties back to the Galactic Blast teachings. Sessions will be offered for children entering 1st through 3rd grade and those entering 4th through 6th in the fall of 2010. Openings available for both weeks for 4th through 6th grade.
PLANETARY HOBBIES
Explore and discover worlds of possibilities in Planetary Hobbies. Whether it is building and testing model rockets or constructing Lego creations, Planetary Hobbies is perfect for the inquisitive cadet with a passion for creative exploration. Sessions will be offered for children entering 1st through 3rd grade and those entering 4th through 6th in the fall of 2010. Full.
ROCKET REC
Galactic Blast launches your cadets into fun at Rocket Rec. This session will get your kids up and moving, learning teamwork skills, doing physical challenges, and learning a biblical message. Sessions will be offered for children entering 1st through 3rd grade and those entering 4th through 6th in the fall of 2010. Openings available for both weeks for 4th through 6th grade.
SHOOTING STARS PHOTOGRAPHY
Shooting Stars Photographers will "shoot" the "stars" of Kingdom Camp capturing their daily activities on digital cameras (provided.) Participants will use computers to prepare a presentation at the Morning Gathering and Kingdom Camp Celebration Sunday. This session will be offered for children entering 4th through 6th grade in the fall of 2010. Openings available 2nd week for 4th through 6th grade.
SOLAR STRINGS
Solar Strings is offered through our School of the Arts. Instruction in beginning violin will be taught in a group setting offering participants the opportunity to discover the joy of praising God through music. Instruments for daily in-class use will be provided. Sessions will be offered for children entering 3rd through 4th grade and those entering 5th through 6th grade in the fall of 2010. Openings available for both weeks.
STELLAR DANCE
Stellar Dance is offered through our School of the Arts. Suitable for boys and girls, participants will enjoy praising God through dance. Simple jazz movements and technique will be introduced and choreography for a full dance routine will be learned. Suitable for beginning and intermediate dancers. Tennis shoes or jazz shoes should be worn. Sessions will be offered for children entering 1st through 3rd grade and those entering 4th through 6th grade in the fall of 2010. Registration for 2010 summer camps (excluding the United Methodist Summer Camp in Leesburg) will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 1, 2010 for Servant Ministers who are making a commitment to serve at one of our camps and all others at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, April 6, 2010.
