Baptism at St. Luke’s
In Baptism – among other things – one is incorporated into the local church. They become a “baptized member” of St. Luke’s. Therefore, it is important that there be a connection and relationship with the individual being baptized and St. Luke’s UMC.
Part of what happens in the baptism ceremony is the congregation makes promises to the child (person being baptized) to surround the individual with love, support and care. The parents, family and sponsors or godparents also make a promise to raise the child in the local church – to be active in Worship, as well as Grow, Serve and Connect opportunities. We take these promises seriously. That is one of the reasons why we strive to provide the best nursery, Sunday School, Children’s and Youth Ministries to do our best to live into that baptismal promise. Infant/Children Baptism Classes
Infant/Children Baptism Classes take place on the first Thursday of the month (unless noted) at 5:30 p.m. in the Founder’s Hall Conference Room. This room is located to the left side as you enter Founder’s Hall. Listed below are the upcoming dates for baptism classes. Prior registration is required. Please note the baptism class for June has been canceled. Click on the date to register for the class you wish to attend. Childcare is not offered during the baptism class but infants/children are always welcome to attend the class with parents. Infant/Children Baptism at Worship
Infant/Children Baptism is usually on the 3rd Sunday of the month. The Infant/Children Baptism can be at the 9:30 or 11:00 a.m. traditional service, at the 9:30 a.m. contemporary service, or at the 11:00 a.m. contemporary worship service. Please note we do not baptize during the 8:00 a.m. traditional worship service.
