St. Luke’s is currently seeking to fill the following positions:

  • Finance Manager
    St Luke’s United Methodist Church in Orlando, FL is looking for a full-time (32 hrs a week) Finance Manager to handle accounting activities, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger and journal entries, cash transactions, bank reconciliations, and ensure accurate and timely processing and records maintenance. Coordinates employee payroll functions, including bi-monthly processing, check distribution, tax reporting, and records maintenance. Monitors and reconciles corporate credit card accounts and personal expenditures, ensure operational compliance, timely and accurate processing. Assists in budget preparation and administration, assisting Church Leadership and ministries as needed. Processes member giving, ensure appropriate fund application, deposit procedures and oversees lay volunteer staff. Attends staff meetings, events and functions, as requested or directed. Understands and supports the Church vision, mission, values and direction, proactively participating as a member of the Church staff team.Job Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field. Relevant professional experience will be accepted in lieu of a degree. Minimum five years accounting operations experience, preferably in a church environment, non-profit organization or faith-based environment. Knowledge of GAAP and standard accounting processes, non-profit accounting a plus. Solid understanding of audit procedures, budget preparation, financial statements and reporting, general ledger and journal maintenance, and bank reconciliations. Outstanding interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Knowledge of a variety of computer programs and applications, including complex accounting and payroll software systems. Shelby Software System knowledge a plus. Intermediate to advanced Excel skills required. Detail-oriented with time-management, organizational and problem-solving skills. Ability to remain professional under pressure.   • Recreation Intern (now accepting applications for January 2020)

Now is an exciting time to be a part of the St. Luke’s sports and recreation team. We are growing steadily and attract over 500 children to our sports leagues each year. Come and understand the ins and outs of youth sports and the recreation field. Those interested in a career in sports and recreation will gain practical application skills that will enhance any resume.

Recreation interns can expect to learn about many of the following responsibilities:

  • Developing and managing a league
  • Game day operations
  • Managing volunteers
  • Creating practice/game schedules
  • Creating programing
  • Advertising
  • Email marketing
  • Social media marketing
  • Refereeing
  • Develop relationships with coaches and parents
  • Tracking equipment inventory

Learning opportunities will be based on experience and interest. Interns will work with the Director of Recreation and Wellness to establish clear learning objectives based on desired career track.

All internships are unpaid and offered during the fall, spring and summer semesters. Credit hours vary by semester and are based on availability of both the employer and intern. Interns are not required to be seeking college credit to apply for this internship. The weekly schedule is afternoons and evenings and Saturdays and the dress code is business casual.

Interns must be comfortable working in a religious organization.
