Hello Dear Friends, We are thankful for the people that we know that have blessed our lives, but what about the people that we don’t know that have also blessed our lives? If you participated in the Christmas “Wish Tree” then somewhere unbeknown to you, a child will be blessed. That child does not know you, but your thoughtfulness will be a blessing just as if that child were your own. In fact, is it not possible that God can bless the unknown giver and the mystery gift more than any other gift? God works through that which we see, but even more so through that which we do not see. We have sources of hope and joy, but the Bible says the greatest source of hope is unseen, and the joy of God’s grace often catches us totally by surprise. Learning to be thankful for what we do not see is the secret of the Christian life. That’s why Jesus often spoke about the Kingdom that is hidden, like a seed waiting for its day in the sun. When something bad happens to us, is it not possible that some good, that is yet to be seen, can come from it? When someone hurts us, is it not possible that a valuable lesson, yet to be revealed, will surface? Maybe that’s why the Scripture says, “in all things, always be thankful.” “In Everything” and “Always” be thankful. I hope you will join us in worship this Sunday November 26th, as we explore this profound truth hidden within the Thanksgiving Season. “Come ye thankful people come!” |
