A Message from Pastor David

Hello Dear Friends,

"You cannot show a kindness too soon, because you never know how soon it will be too late." This old proverb is one of my favorites now – I will tell you why.

But first a word from our sponsor – Last Sunday at St. Luke’s, where exciting things are always happening, Pastor Jenn and I had mental gymnastic addressing the “Primetime Preaches” series on the T.V. show “Survivor.” In simple terms, we talked about learning to help one another and not to “vote people off the Island.” Let’s not give up on each other, or run each other down, because we are on this journey of faith together and we need each other. This Sunday we will look at the T.V. show “American Idols.” What’s that got to do with our Faith? Come and see!

Back to my quote – at Christmas I called my brother, Jimmie, and asked him to come up to hear me preach on New Years eve, bring Mom and Dad, and afterwards go out for Lunch. I also called my Daughter and asked her to come and to bring the grandkids, so they could see their great grandparents. A few days before New Years eve Sunday, Jimmie’s Mother in Law had a stroke and ended up in the hospital. I called and told him to stay with his wife and help out, but he insisted that he could still come, and bring Mom and Dad. We had a great time that Sunday, and the family came over after lunch for Dessert at my home.

Since then my Father was diagnosed with a fast growing brain tumor and is now too disoriented to travel. That Sunday was his last trip to my home, and our last time to worship together at St. Luke’s – just in time, at the right time, in the fullness of time. Thank you Lord – and thanks Jimmie.

Love you All

David
