A Message from Pastor David

Hello Dear Friends,

The outpouring of God’s love into the world is analogous to a water wheel that turns the grinders in an old fashioned village mill house. This was the place where community members came to turn their crops of wheat and corn into flour and mill, to make bread for the winter. A water wheel is a true collaboration between Mother nature and human ingenuity. You can still find one along a beautiful, wooded mountain stream, at a place where rocks and cliffs provide a swift and powerful down flow of clear, clean water. A waterfall is very often just such a place.

The circle of Christian love and kindness is like a waterwheel. God provides the power and the flow, we provide the mechanics – we are the receptacles that turn on the wheel. If you are willing to pour yourself out, God is always there to fill you up again. And in the giving and receiving of this ever turning – ever flowing exchange, great energy is born for kindness, and tremendous blessings are generated.

Have you ever sat in the shade of a wooded stream and listened and watched as the water wheel turned? It sounded something like this:

Sing the song of the water wheel
A river of love that can never be still
A flow of grace that moves and turns
So the children of earth can grow and learn.

Turning and churning, clickedy clack
A circle of love that never holds back
Rock and beam and water and wood
Working as one in the service of good.

Filled at the top – poured out below
A bounty of blessings the wheel doth bestow
And many a neighbor
In the village of grace,
Will see in your kindness,

God’s lovely face.

You are a good person, and through you God’s goodness flows – you can be kind, because you know what it means to receive kindness. Keep the wheel turning – sing the song of the water wheel – it is the song of grace – flowing through our lives and into the world.

Hope you can join us in worship this Sunday, Father’s Day, as we explore the precious gift of kindness.

Happy Father’s Day to all,

David
