Dear St. Luke’s Saints, We had another wonderful Sunday of worship this week. The Rev. LeeAnn Inman introduced herself to us in a thoughtful, sensitive, and hope-giving way. We asked her to preach at all five services, and even though she and her husband Tom were smack dab in the middle of making their house a home following their move from Jacksonville, she made time for us to hear God’s word from the perspective of one who knows all-too-well the challenges of packing and unpacking. I cannot begin to tell you how delighted I am that LeeAnn has joined our Vision Leadership team. Speaking of packing, Kim and I are throwing a few things into a bag as we head for our annual week at Sanibel Island. We have been vacationing there this week in July for more than 20 years. The small interval ownership resort has pretty much had the same families in residence for both decades, and we all have seen our children go from toddlers to teens, and from college kids to mature adults. A third generation of Sanibel Cottages kids has begun to arrive, as we who not too long ago were parents are now becoming grandparents. (Not us, yet. No hidden message here!) The beach is my place of renewal, and after our own recent move to a home we have owned in MetroWest since 1993, Kim and I are in need of nothing but wind, waves, and some good books. This coming Sunday, Jenn and Beth will be unpacking self-doubt and packing patience. I hope if your plans keep you in Central Florida this weekend that you will be here to hear how they do that. With faith, hope, and love, William S. Barnes |
