A Note from Pastor Bill

Dear St. Luke’s Saints:

If you are reading this, you are obviously comfortable with using a computer. That means you are easily able to click on this link: www.st.lukes.org. This will take you immediately to our church website (which by the way, will have a whole new look and many cool features when it debuts at the end of this month.) On the opening page at the bottom center is a box labeled: “Kingdom Building Spiritual Gifts Inventory Now Serving” Click on “Spiritual Gifts Inventory” and you can find out what your spiritual gifts are.

Didn’t know you had any? Well, you do! And they were given to you by Jesus himself. These gifts are not the same thing as natural talents or developed skills. These are attributes of Christ, meant for building up the body of faith in love.

Part of the scripture lesson from Ephesians for this week states, “But each of us was given grace according to the measure of Christ’s gift.” (Ephesians 4:7)

Note that the verse says each of us, not some of us! For several years now we have been asking everyone to know what their spiritual gifts are so that we can better assist you in finding just the right place for your service for the Kingdom. The inventory takes less than 15 minutes to complete, and you will be given your results immediately.

My spiritual gifts are (in this order) Mercy, Teaching, Faith, and Giving. (You will quickly notice that the spiritual gift of Administration does not appear here, which is why I make sure I have people with those gifts helping me out on a daily basis!)

This weekend we will consider just “What in the World” Jesus is doing with this crazy gift-giving. He is entrusting the Kingdom work to us and blessing each one of us individually with aspects of his own divine giftedness. Read Ephesians 4:1-16 in preparation for Sunday, and be sure to stop by the “Kingdom Building” tables on both campuses.

With faith, hope, and love (Of course! It’s my mercy gift!)
Bill
