St. Luke’s Staffing Updates
As we announced last month, April 9 was Jayne Andrews’, Executive Director of GROW Ministries, last day with us. She and husband Chris moved to Roanoke, Virginia to run a B&B, a lifelong dream come true. We will miss Jayne and Chris but wish them both much success on this new adventure.
We have also been interviewing for an open position within our Missions area. For the last 18 months, Kellie Brinker has been acting as our part-time Associate Director of Missions. This part-time commitment was supposed to be for 3 to 4 months but due to flexible hours and enjoyment of the position, Kellie has stayed with us for much longer than her original commitment. She helped us prepare ourselves for the full-time vacancy we have had in this area for a few years, when Carolyn Green Souder resigned and went to full time work for Disney. We have been searching for the right person to fill the void which will be left by Kellie (and Carolyn). Amy Winslow, Director of Adult Ministries has always had a heart for missions and when this position became available she felt the tug of God on her heart and applied. As the search team went through the interview process it was unanimous that Amy was the right person for the job. She is currently training with Kellie and others to move into this position on a full-time basis by the end of May.
So, now we find ourselves with two open positions in the GROW (discipleship) ministry area. You may be asking “What is your plan?” One of the things I feel St. Luke’s does very well when it comes to staffing is that we don’t rush into replacing an open position without reviewing the current needs. Our Leadership team and Staff Parish Relations Committee have been working together to determine what is the best way to replace these open positions and do the job descriptions need to be reworked. We have done some adjustments to the Executive Director position and have posted the job on our website. Some of the modifications include new responsibilities related to curriculum development, understanding copywriting procedures as well as having responsibility to help develop portions of LEAD at St. Luke’s. This position will also continue to be part of the Leadership Team and oversee the Directors for Children and Youth. Once this position has been filled the new Executive Director will help make the determination on the replacement for the Director of Adult Ministries. Amy will still be available through the end of May to assist Adult Ministry facilitators with their classes and study options. These groups normally slow down over the summer so we do not anticipate any issues with this timeline.
We also have two other positions posted on our website. One is for a full-time Facilities Associate which is a new position for 2017. This position will work weekends plus three days during the week and will come on board just as we open Founder’s Hall. We are also looking for a part-time Food and Beverage Coordinator which is an existing position. This position will help with special events, Sunday coffee/donut cleanup, and normal ministry requests.
