A Note from Pastor Jeremy-December 15, 2022

Posted on December 15, 2022 at 9:32 am in .

Dear St. Lukers,

Here we are, family! Already approaching the end of the third week of Advent. If things have been as busy for you as they have for everyone else around these parts, you may need a chance to slow down and process the many emotions that visit our hearts and minds this time of year. Many of these emotions and memories are tied to great joy we’ve experienced in years past. Others, however, are linked to more difficult times we are still healing from. This Sunday, we’ll have a chance to mourn as a community as we move toward hope together at our annual Blue Christmas service. We’ll sing, light candles, and pray, and you’ll be given something to hold on to as a reminder that you’re never alone. The service will be held this Sunday (December 18) at 4:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary. While our Blue Christmas service is not one we stream online due to its nature, the Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church with be hosting an online Blue Christmas service tonight at 7:00 p.m. via Zoom (click here to watch).

This week in worship, we’ll be concluding our Make Room sermon series as Pastors Melissa and Jad take us on a tour through Christmas at John’s house, which I hear is a bit more modern than what we’ve seen so far. We’ll be looking at John 1:1-5 together:

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The Word was with God in the beginning. Everything came into being through the Word, and without the Word nothing came into being. What came into being through the Word was life, and the life was the light for all people. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness doesn’t extinguish the light.”

Let’s meditate on the hope that always was, came to us as a baby, and whose presence dwells with us even now as we end our week and prepare for worship.

Blessings,

Pastor Jeremy
