Watch Pastor Corey as he prepares us to explore deep, abiding joy through the book of Philippians and celebrate All Saints Sunday. Discover how the legacy of those who came before us inspires us to live with faith, joy, and the love of Christ.
Hey everyone, happy Thursday. It’s Pastor Corey here with another edition of your weekly update.
This Sunday, we continue in Love University as we move from our Sacred Civics class into psychology. We’re going to take four weeks to look at having deep, abiding joy—the type of joy that Paul calls us to and lifts up in the book of Philippians.
We’re going to spend one week in each chapter of the book. Paul, of course, is in chains and in jail while he’s writing this. And so, this is something that only comes from the joy of Jesus Christ.
This particular Sunday, as we look at chapter one, we’ll see what Paul tells each and every one of us: that whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. And so, it’s going to serve as a reminder as we come together and find joy in togetherness and legacy.
Legacy because it’s such a special Sunday, November 1st, we’ll gather to celebrate All Saints Sunday. And so, right now I find myself in this sacred space here, our memorial garden, where many of our saints here at St. Luke’s have gone on before us. And just as the wind blows, we continue to feel their presence through the legacy that they leave behind.
And so, this Sunday, we talk about what it means for us to live into our future legacy, following the example of Christ and following the example of all the saints that have gone before us.
And so, come prepared, ready to gather at the table with the communion of saints to rejoice in the joy of the Lord, that God is with us through all of life, even at the time of the end of life.
And so, come ready to worship, ready to celebrate and honor all the saints we lost in the last year, and ready to come to the meal knowing and recognizing that God is with each and every one of us.
I love you. God bless you. Peace.
