Did you know, close to 800,000 children in the U.S. don’t have a bed. These children end up sleeping on floors – sometimes without a mattress. A bed is a basic need for the physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing of a child. SHP is a national organization answering the call to a national problem. They partner with organizations to build, assemble, and deliver top-notch bunk beds to children and families in need. NO KID SLEEPS ON THE FLOOR IN OUR TOWN!®
Thank you to everyone who joined us on our last bed build day, where we built 81 beds!
Join us at our next Bed Build on Saturday, October 3 where we will build 80 beds.
Date: Saturday, October 3, 2026
Time: 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (An earlier Pre-Build shift is also available from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and a Post-Build shift from 1:00-3:00 pm)
Location: St. Luke’s front UMC parking lot
No prior experience with tools or wood working is required.
Check out the video to see how these beds are built and delivered.
This workday will be outdoors and will consist of some heavy lifting and the usage of power tools. Please bring a filled water bottle, hat, and sunscreen. Wear closed-toed shoes. Gloves and tools will be provided.
This is a great opportunity for families and friends to serve together! Children under under 12 should come with parents.
