Grace and Peace, Beloved St. Lukers,
With Spring Break this week, things are noticeably quieter around the church campus. The usual rhythm has slowed. Our preschool hallways are not filled with laughter, and the steady flow of families coming and going has paused for a moment.
There is a stillness here at the crossroads of St. Luke’s. My prayer for you this week, wherever you may be – traveling, working, or resting – is that you find space not only to continue your Lenten journey, but also to rest within it. Lent is not only a time of movement toward the cross, but it is also an invitation to slow down, to breathe, and to be attentive to God’s presence along the way.
As we continue this season, I also want to invite you into a moment of joy and connection in the life of our church. Easter Hop is coming up on March 28 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This free, family-friendly event is a wonderful opportunity to welcome our community onto our campus and share in the joy of the season together. We are expecting hundreds of children and families, and we would love your help. You can sign up to host a trunk, hand out candy, and offer a simple but meaningful expression of Christ’s love through hospitality and welcome. It is one of those beautiful ways we live out our faith in tangible, joyful ways.
Looking a little further ahead, I want to share that I will be on renewal leave during April and May. Part of that time, Shelly and I will be walking a portion of the Camino de Santiago, an ancient pilgrimage that stretches across the Pyrenees and through Spain. While the full journey is about 500 miles, we will be walking approximately 124 miles. This time will be a gift of renewal, reflection, and prayer, and I will carry you with me in that.
During my time away, I am deeply grateful that Rev. Labert Altemose will be helping lead much of the Congregational Care ministry. Many of you already know Rev. Altemose through his presence in our choir and around the life of the church. With over 45 years of pastoral ministry experience, he brings wisdom, compassion, and a steady pastoral presence. I am thankful for his willingness to serve in this way and for the care he will offer to our community.
Thank you, as always, for the ways you continue to be the church, through your presence, your service, and your love. See you Sunday!
Grace and Peace,
Pastor Jad
