Becoming a Partner at St. Luke’s
At St. Luke’s, we believe that a life of faith is meant to be lived together, and church is about being together in mission and ministry to the world. That’s why we use the word Partnership instead of membership. Partnership reflects our commitment to join with one another and with God in awakening disciples and revealing God’s kingdom here and now.
Whether you’re brand new or have been worshiping with us for a while, we invite you to take the next step in your journey through our Discover St. Luke’s and St. Luke’s Partnership classes.
Step 1: Attend a Sunday Meet-n-Greet
Join us for a friendly Meet-n-Greet to learn more, ask questions, and explore our campus!

Step 2: Discover St. Luke’s
Discover St. Luke’s is the starting point for anyone wanting to learn more about who we are and how to get connected.
In this class, you will:
- Learn about St. Luke’s mission: Awaken Disciples to Reveal the Kingdom; Reveal the Kingdom to Awaken Disciples
- Explore core United Methodist beliefs
- Learn about St. Luke’s Core Values—Acceptance, Hospitality, Community, Discipleship, and Service
- Learn about ministry areas, serving opportunities, and our pattern of discipleship: Learn, Live, Love, Lead
This session is open to anyone, whether or not you’re ready to pursue membership.

After Discover St. Luke’s, you’ll be invited to take the Lead Your Life Inventory, connect with ministry leaders, and register for the Partnership class, the next step toward membership.
Step 3: Partnership
Partnership is what we call membership at St. Luke’s. It’s more than joining a church, it’s a chance for you to commit to lead your life of faith as part of a larger community, and to be a co-creator of this community.
When you become a Partner, you commit to:
- Worship regularly and grow in faith through discipleship experiences
- Build relationships in community and care for others
- Serve with your gifts and passions at St. Luke’s or in the community
- Support St. Luke’s ministries with your prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness
- Lead your life in the world with purpose as a disciple
In turn, you can count on your St. Luke’s family to support, encourage, and walk with you in faith.
What to Expect in St. Luke’s Partnership Class
In this class, you’ll:
- Learn the history and story of St. Luke’s and the United Methodist Church
- Explore what it means to partner with God and with one another through this congregation
- Reflect on your spiritual gifts and calling
- Review and discuss the vows of membership
If after Partnership class you feel called to continue your faith journey by joining the church, you’ll let us know you’re ready to become a Partner.

How to Join
You can become a Partner in one of three ways:
- Affirmation of Faith – If you’ve never joined a church before (and baptism if you’ve never been baptized).
- Reaffirmation of Faith – If you are returning to church life after a time away.
- Transfer of Membership – If you’re moving your membership from another church.
Partnership Sunday
Your journey culminates in Partnership Sunday, when you’ll stand with others in worship and make your vows as a Partner. It’s a powerful moment of commitment: both your commitment to the church, and the church’s commitment to you.
