Dementia Training Series: Skills for Family and Caregivers

Caring for someone with dementia, Alzheimer’s, or other cognitive changes can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to navigate it alone. This 3-class series is designed for anyone who wants to grow in understanding, confidence, and compassion while caring for a loved one or supporting others.

Join special guest Veronica Quiñones, BC-DED, CADDCT, a certified dementia educator and practitioner, as she shares practical, gentle, and effective communication and care strategies for real-life challenges. Whether you are a caregiver, family member, or simply want to learn more, you’ll gain tools that can make everyday moments more meaningful and manageable.

  • Learn the types of dementia and how it impacts behavior and function.
  • Learn skills for more compassionate communication.
  • Build trust and learn how to recognize the needs of your loved one.
  • Learn how to de-escalate and redirect when needed.
  • Understand when memory care becomes appropriate.
  • Support for the caregiver.

 

Veronica Quiñones is a nationally credentialed dementia care professional, educator, and advocate with over 10 years of experience supporting older adults, families, and caregivers. She is a Board Certified–Dementia Education Director (BC-DED), Certified Dementia Practitioner® (CDP), and Certified Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia Care Trainer® (CADDCT). As the founder of North Star Senior Advisors and North Star Cares, Veronica brings both professional expertise and personal compassion to her work, helping families navigate dementia-related challenges with clarity, dignity, and care.

This series is offered both in-person and via Zoom, and is free and open to all. Light refreshments will be available.
