Grace and Peace, Beloved St. Luke’s Change Makers,
This week, I want to celebrate one of our youngest change makers—8-year-old Avery Catlett-Miller. Avery and his dads spent last weekend delivering beds through Sleep in Heavenly Peace, a nonprofit St. Luke’s has proudly partnered with for the past two years. Together, they helped make sure children in Central Florida who don’t have a bed of their own can finally sleep in comfort and safety.
What inspires me most is that Avery isn’t waiting until he’s older to make a difference. He’s already showing us that no matter our age or stage of life, God can use each of us to bring hope and love into the world. His joy and willingness to serve remind us that every act of kindness—whether building, delivering, welcoming, or encouraging—becomes part of God’s bigger story of grace.
Over these past few weeks, our Change Makers series has invited us to consider what it means to live as people of faith in action. We began with the call to Do Something. Then we learned to Start Where You Are. Last week, we were encouraged to Raise Your Voice. And now, this Sunday, we conclude with Lead Your Life Boldly (Joshua 1:1-9). Together, we’ll reflect on how God calls ordinary people—just like Avery, just like you and me—to lead in extraordinary ways, grounded in courage, humility, and boldness.
I hope you’ll join us in worship as we bring this series to a close and look toward the future God is calling us to build together.
Grace and Peace,
Pastor Jad
