From Cloak to Community: Saying Yes to God’s Call

Hello St. Lukers,

On Sunday, we’ll gather for World Communion Sunday and hear the story of Elisha picking up Elijah’s cloak. We are reminded that joy begins when we say “yes” to what God calls us to carry, even when it feels heavy or unfamiliar. Like Elisha, we step into the legacy of those who came before us, trusting that God meets us in the moment of obedience.

We invite you to “pick up the cloak” of joyful service with Sleep in Heavenly Peace, next Saturday, October 11, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at St. Luke’s as we build 80 beds! No experience is needed, and children are welcome to participate. We need your help! Register here to join us.

(Please note: Sleep in Heavenly Peace has been rescheduled from October 4 to October 11 due to potential inclement weather.)

Many of you have seen the beds displayed outside of worship in recent weeks. These beds represent what we can make to help the 800,000 children across the United States who don’t have a bed to sleep in. A bed offers more than just rest; it provides stability, hope, and a place for a child to recharge. It truly makes a difference.

Right now, nearly 500 children in own community of Orlando are on the waiting list for a bed through Sleep in Heavenly Peace. You can help change that.

In addition to building, we also need volunteers to deliver beds. When you deliver a bed, you witness the immediate joy of serving with dignity and giving a child a place of rest. Delivery opportunities are available on Tuesdays and Saturdays with a team of St. Lukers. For more information, contact us at se***@******es.org.

Let’s carry the mantle of those who have served before us and discover the joy of serving together.

With gratitude,

The Missions Team
