Spirit-Led and Spirit-Guided

Watch the video message from Pastor Corey, coming to us from the United Methodist Building in Washington, D.C., where he has been participating in a spirit-led leadership cohort through the Florida Annual Conference and Wesley Theological Seminary. Reflecting on Pentecost and the work of the Holy Spirit, he offers encouragement for Spirit Week and invites the congregation to join in worship and mission together.

Happy Thursday everybody. It’s Pastor Corey here and I’m coming to you from Washington D.C. outside the United Methodist Building. This has been the third of three sessions as part of this public fellows cohort that I’ve been a part of. This is a partnership between the Florida Annual Conference and Wesley Theological Seminary. And so we’ve been talking about what God is doing out in the world and how we as church leaders and as congregations can join that work. It’s been spirit-led and spirit-guided, and it’s incredible to see how we can join in the Holy Spirit’s work in the world.

And so this particular time we’ve been talking about immigration reform and how we can come alongside that effort. And so that is right on time as we move into this week as we celebrate Pentecost, the birth of the church, as we see in Acts 2, the coming of the Holy Spirit upon each and every one of us. And like those tongues of flame, it’s been a little hot. But really, the work has been incredible. I’ve been here with great colleagues and friends, and I’m looking forward to sharing with you over time some of the things that I’ve learned and how we can be a part of this work.

I love you all. I’m looking forward to being back this weekend for worship on Sunday. If you’re checking out online, make sure you are keeping up with Spirit Week with everything that we can do daily as we move into Sunday and celebrate the Spirit among us. Make sure you wear your red, your orange, and your yellows, and we will be set on holy fire for the Lord and for the mission ahead.

I love you. God bless you. Peace.
