Stephen Ministry
Supportive presence when you need it
While Stephen Ministers are not pastors or professional counselors, they have 50 hours of training that includes active listening, confidentiality, and trust building. They cannot provide counsel or advice but will walk alongside you during life’s storms such as job loss, grief, divorce/separation, relocation, etc., and offer loving care, prayers, compassion, and support.
Our leader, Lisa Apikos shares how Stephen Ministers can be a precious gift.
Learn what she says HERE.
Women are matched with female Stephen Ministers and
men are matched with male Stephen Ministers.

STOP by our table at the Ministry Fair on 8/16
to learn more.
Contact the Care Office
HERE by email
or call 407-876-4991 ext. 262 to be connected with a Stephen Minister.

GriefShare offers support and encouragement for those grieving the loss of a parent, sibling, spouse or partner, child, friend, co-worker, or other loved one. Participants may join no matter how long ago the loss occurred. Find understanding, hope, and community by joining one of our fall classes which meet weekly for 14 weeks.
Daytime in-person class on Tuesdays
10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., starting August 25
Evening online class on Thursdays
6:30 to 8:30 p.m., starting August 27

*This group will NOT meet in August and will return in September.
As a caregiver, you are always ‘just fine’ because the focus is always on the person that you care for. You are ‘just fine’ because if you think of allowing yourself to be anything other than fine, your legs will come out from under you. Everyone else can see the dark circles under your eyes and recognize the tension buzzing through your system but you keep moving along, all the while knowing that the person that you need to convince you are ‘just fine’ is YOU!
Join this safe space to briefly let go and connect!

OneBlood’s Big Red Bus is back at St. Luke’s on Sunday, September 20 outside Building C. Scheduling an appointment is strongly encouraged, but walk-ins are welcome. Your donation can potentially save up to three lives!
Learn more HERE.
Free Blood Pressure Screenings
will also be available on campus outside both worship venues.
This is a great way to double check the readings you are getting at home. Hypertension, known as the “silent killer”, is a major risk factor for
heart disease and stroke! Let’s make sure yours is under control.

Spotlight on Pickleball
Tuesdays and Thursday afternoons
2:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Coleman Memorial Gymnasium
Beginners are welcome – Bring a friend!
Pickleball is a racquet sport that anyone can play and provides a great way to exercise and socialize with friends! Bring a Pickleball racket AND wear court shoes!
To avoid injury, court shoes are designed specifically to support
side-to-side movement and quick stops and starts –
regular tennis/running/walking shoes are not acceptable.
There is no charge to join, but a donation of $10/month is used to cover use of the church facilities.
Come join the fun and fellowship!

Babies and Baptisms
Are you interested in baptism for your child or grandchild?
Baptism classes are held online monthly at 5:30 p.m. and are a prerequisite to
scheduling a baptism.
Our next Baptism class is scheduled
on August 13 via Zoom.
Registration is required.

Reception Team needs additional volunteers
Are you the “hostess with the mostest”? This might be just for you!
YOU can be part of a team that provides a caring and calm presence for families after their loved one’s Memorial Service. Volunteers help set up and break-down food service for receptions and we are looking to build this team to allow more flexibility with those that serve.
Contact our Director of Care Ministries, Kim Paredes HERE to learn more
about how this team uses their spiritual gifts during difficult times.
Upcoming Events on Campus
Theatre at St. Luke’s
Theatre at St. Luke’s invites you to THE PROM, a joyful, high-energy musical comedy with a whole lot of heart. This Broadway hit follows a group of self-absorbed stage stars who descend on a small Indiana town to champion a high school student barred from bringing her
girlfriend to prom. Filled with humor, dazzling music, and heartfelt moments, THE PROM is a story about courage, compassion, and what it truly means to show up for one another.
