A Note from Pastor Melissa-April 14, 2022

Posted on April 14, 2022 at 9:45 am in .

Dear St. Lukers,

I don’t know about you, but Palm Sunday this year was one for the memory books for me. It was such a joy to see so many of you in person, especially all the wonderful children in worship who shared their wisdom with us about what they valued and might be willing to give up for Jesus.

I pray that your Holy Week has been one where you are holding on to that nail you received on Sunday and remembering that while we know the end of the story, we still are called to walk the path with Jesus year after year so we can discover and re-discover God’s love for us. There’s a weight to the story we are taking on this weekend, and I am so grateful to be joining with this congregation in it.

So, you won’t want to miss out on the three parts of the story we’ll be sharing in worship together this weekend. First, our youth will be leading us in an incredibly powerful Holy Thursday service tonight in Founder’s Hall at 7:00 p.m. That will help us be ready to experience the journey from light to dark on Good Friday. Worship services on Friday evening will be in both the Sanctuary and Founder’s Hall at 7:30 p.m. And then after we’ve sat in the darkness of Holy Saturday, we can’t wait to celebrate Resurrection Sunday with you at either 9:30 or 11:00 a.m. in both of our worship spaces.

We’ll be live streaming all three days online – at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening we’ll be live on Facebook, and at 7:30 p.m. on Friday evening you can click here to watch Contemporary worship, or click here to watch Traditional worship. Easter Sunday we will share the 9:30 a.m. Contemporary and 11:00 a.m. Traditional worship services live on Facebook.

However you choose to experience the last days of Jesus’ life with us, I pray you find yourself leaning in this weekend and listening for all that Jesus has to offer you this year.

Blessings,

Pastor Melissa

Update from Pastor Jenn and family:

Thank you for all of your prayers as we said goodbye to my dear brother, Rev. Mark Stiles, on Monday evening. Mark passed on to his resurrection with his family at his side singing him into glory. I can’t thank you enough for your support during this time as we care for our mother and Mark’s family. He fought like a warrior this last year with cancer and showed us how to die to live, ensuring everything was handled and planned, right down to the music at his service. I am grateful for the church leadership and amazing staff who have jumped in and allowed me the time to be with him to the very end and grieve. You have given us an incredible gift and I am both grateful and incredibly proud of this amazing team! Here’s to the power of resurrection and the coming of Easter for all of us.

Jenn.
