A Note from Pastor Melissa-May 23, 2024

Hey St. Lukers!

Are you still fired up with the Holy Spirit from Pentecost? I am so proud to be a St. Luker right now, because after worship last week, more than 100 of you signed the Central Florida Pledge saying that you are going to stand up against all the stories we are hearing that preach hate and exclusion, and instead live our core values in your life, in your workplace, in your neighborhood, and in our whole community. We already have a story to tell, and we get to tell it in a way that is hopeful and not rooted in fear. I pray that this is how we begin to build a community that really resembles God’s Kingdom.

If you did not sign the Central Florida Pledge on Sunday, you can still do so by clicking here. And, if you signed the banner that we had in the Welcome Hall on Sunday, it is still important that you go online to sign as well. That lets the whole community know that we are part of this movement, part of telling a story of love.

If you’re still trying to figure out how to respond to Pastor Jenn‘s call for us to be the church last Sunday, be sure that you have taken the St. Luke’s Lead Your Life Inventory (click here). This will help you further identify exactly what kind of what part of this story you are being called to tell. If you haven’t taken it recently, you may want to go back and see if anything has changed and how God is gifting or calling you now. And, if you’re just not sure where to start, please be sure you reach out to me, so that you can feel confident when you say “I am the church.”

This Sunday, we are beginning a new worship series centered around St. Luke’s Core Values of Acceptance, Hospitality, Community, Discipleship, and Service. And this week we are starting at the core of it all: Christ-centered Love. Be sure you have checked out this week’s episode of the “Your Week with St. Luke’s” podcast (available wherever you listen to podcasts) for a special edition with Pastor Jenn and me, as we talk through our core values, and how we see them exemplified by the story of Ruth.

I can’t wait to see you on Sunday — and don’t forget, our new summer worship times begin this week! Contemporary will be in Founder’s Hall at 9:30 a.m. and Traditional is in the Sanctuary at 10:00 a.m., with both services available to watch live online via our Facebook and YouTube pages.

Let’s continue to explore together how we are going to BE the church to offer more to our community, more for central Florida, and reveal more of God‘s Kingdom in the world.

Blessings,

Pastor Melissa
