Grace and Peace to you fellow STLUKERS,

It has been so exciting to watch the World Cup this summer. My brother-in-law and I were glued to each game last week and jumped up and down screaming in the middle of a restaurant at the conclusion of the Costa Rica vs. Netherlands match. As I consider this week’s sermon, “Help! I Need Somebody!”, I can’t help but think of Brazil playing against Germany this past Tuesday. HELP!!! If you missed the 7-1 match, it seemed for a time that there was nothing Brazil could do to stop Germany. Nothing could help them. I know I can relate. There have been may times in my life, heck a few this week, that I have felt like everything was against me, and I felt like crying out “Help!” This is where the Psalmist is in our scripture for SundayPsalm 86, crying out for help. This week we continue in our “Psalms: A Soundtrack for the Summer” sermon series. Pastor Corey and I have been diligently praying, reading, and writing in preparation for worship this weekend, so I hope you can join us! If you can’t, remember that you can worship online and be a part of the Psalms conversation via Twitter, Facebook and text.

Also, don’t forget The Liberty Voices will be performing a free concert on Saturday and Sunday nights at 7:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary. To get your free tickets visitwww.st.lukes.org/event/libertyvoices. This world-renowned acapella group will fill the Sanctuary with Americana, Folk, and Patriotic songs and maybe a Disney favorite or two. This is a great opportunity to invite your neighbor or that person from work!

And last, our Summer Splash “Dive in the Pool” Giving has begun. Click on this link for more information and to schedule your one-time summer gift. People are wading in the pool and as of this update $3,800 has been received. Dive on in, the water is great!!!

See you Sunday,

Pastor Jad
