A Note from Pastor Jad-January 18, 2024

Grace and Peace Beloved,

It was a powerful time of worship last week as we remembered our baptism, and it was great to have Pastor Corey bring a word. I hope you were all able to spend Martin Luther King Jr. Day in some way reflecting, remembering, and honoring Dr. King and his ministry. While Pastor Jenn and John were in DC dropping off their son, Sam, they snapped a picture of the Dr. King monument (see below).

Rev. Dr. King’s prophetic ministry was centralized in the Beloved Community, which Pastor Corey mentioned in his message. As disciples of Jesus Christ, this Beloved Community is how we understand our part in the Kingdom of God, and it is our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee’s work to help us all be a part of expanding the Beloved Community and revealing the Kingdom. That is why St. Luke’s DEI is introducing “PurposeFull Conversations: Breaking Bread, Building Bridges.” This is a new monthly opportunity for St. Lukers to gather together over a meal and have intentional and deep conversations that might not only expand our world view and perspective, but also expand the Beloved Community and reveal the Kingdom of God. If you are interested in learning how to be a part of this powerful opportunity click here.

This Sunday we kick off a new sermon series called “Life on Purpose: Lessons from Lasso.” All year long we are seeking to live into God’s call and vision with intention, with purpose. And what better way than with the gospel and Ted Lasso, a folksy, optimistic, and deep man of intention who seems to bring the best out of others and help them live their lives with deep purpose. This Sunday our gospel text is from Mark chapter 1, and we are thinking about how that “Life on Purpose” is lived best in relationships.

See y’all on Sunday!

Grace and Peace,

Pastor Jad
