Dear St. Lukers,

It’s opening night for our cast and crew of The Little Mermaid, and we are so excited for you to see this creative re-telling of a classic story live on the Founder’s Hall stage! It takes a village to put on the summer show each year, and we are blessed to have such a dedicated team collaborating to bring this beautiful production together for you all. Watch a special sneak peek below to see what magical world awaits you over the next two weekends:

The story of The Little Mermaid has been pivotal at different points in my own life – whether it was being a young girl going off to college and wanting the independence of Ariel, to being a parent of little ones and resonating with King Triton’s fatherly fear of losing his daughter, or to this summer seeing this beloved tale open up to a new generation of children who might see themselves represented. The messages of love and acceptance, people living into their calling and purpose in the world, and the importance of embracing diversity really speak to who we are as a church family, and we are excited to tell the story through a lens that will reach all people, meeting anyone right where they are.

The Little Mermaid is not just a fairytale for children. It’s a parable about how we learn from one another when we listen to each other’s hopes and dreams, how we love sometimes by letting go, and how we heal when we create spaces for everyone to belong and live into who we were created to be. Not to mention, this 45-person cast ranges from age 8 to 80, and the production value will leave you speechless. It will truly be an unforgettable experience, and we hope to see you at one of the performances. Get your tickets online now by clicking here and invite a friend or two to be part of your world and experience St. Luke’s in a whole new way.

Blessings,

Jenn.

P.S.

Don’t forget to join us for a special morning of worship this week! We’ll be led in combined worship in the Sanctuary by the Spark Worship Band from the Florida United Methodist Children’s Home, where we’ll share in some familiar songs as well as some original music written by the youth members of the band. We will also hear a message from Rev. Brian Carr, who serves at the Children’s Home. Invite a friend and we’ll see you on Sunday at 9:30 or 11:15 a.m. on campus or live on Facebook!
